Dover police name suspect in Capitol Green shooting

DOVER, DELAWARE (5/16/2015) Dover police this afternoon named a suspect in the shooting of a 19-year-old man on Friday in the Capitol Green neighborhood.

Rakim Strickland, 25, of 634 River Road in Dover, is sought on attempted murder and related charges.

The shooting happened about 1:50 p.m. in an alley between Sussex Avenue and East Water Street, Cpl. Mark Hoffman said. The community is located off U.S. 13 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and about 1,000 feet east of Legislative Hall.

The 19-year-old man was seated in the driver side of a gold Dodge Intrepid when he was shot, Hoffman said. The victim was taken first to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, then flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

Hoffman said Strickland should be considered armed and dangerous.

Strickland also faces charges of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person prohibited, trespassing and criminal mischief.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
