DOVER, DELAWARE (5/15/2015) Dover police and other agencies are looking for a suspect after a shooting Friday in the Capitol Green neighborhood.

Access to the neighborhood was restricted as police investigated, and children from Capital School District elementary schools who live in Capitol Green were dropped off at the Kent County Family Court parking lot for families to pick up, police said.

At 6:30 p.m., DelDOT reported streets were closed in the area of Legislative Hall – about 1,000 feet west of Capitol Green – due to police activity, but Dover police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman said it was unrelated to the shooting.

The shooting was first reported by police at 2:42 p.m. and Hoffman told Delaware Free News that there was one male victim. He said he had no other information on the injuries or condition.

Nearby East Dover Elementary School, on South Little Creek Road, was on lockdown but the school later reported on the school district website that the lockdown had been lifted by Dover police and students were being released to their buses or guardians.

Capitol Green is off U.S. 13 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, adjacent to the Family Court building.

East Dover Elementary is about a half mile east of the neighborhood, across U.S. 13 and Bay Road.
