41-year-old Wilmington man killed in Pike Creek crash

PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE (1/21/2009) A 41-year-old Wilmington man died after a head-on crash involving two vehicles in Pike Creek, the Delaware State Police said Sunday.

The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Polly Drummond Hill Road just south of Foxfire Drive.

Police said a northbound 2009 Infiniti G37 drifted into the northbound lane and collided with a southbound 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

The driver of the Infiniti, identified by police as Lamar R. Elam, was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital in Stanton. Police said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Jeep, a 44-year-old Newark man, also was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Police described his injuries as not life-threatening.
