Dover police arrest 2 in Webbs Lane homicide

DOVER, DELAWARE (5/1/2015) Dover police have charged one man with first-degree murder and another with related counts in connection with Thursday’s fatal shooting  at the Pine Grove Apartments on Webbs Lane.

Cpl. Mark Hoffman issued this statement this morning:

“Early Thursday morning the Dover Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Pine Grove Apartments. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old victim, DaShawn Friend. Friend had been shot multiple times and was declared deceased on the scene as a result from his injuries. Throughout the remainder of the day, police and detectives pursued multiple leads in the case which led [to the] arrest of two suspects.

“Fchante Robertson, 27, was charged with the following offenses: 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Robbery, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During Commission of a Felony, Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited, and Resisting Arrest.

“James White, 30, was charged with the following offenses: 1st Degree Robbery, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During Commission of a Felony, Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited, and Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited.”

No bail information was available for White, of the first block of Salisbury Road in Dover, and Robertson, described as a homeless man from Dover.

Hoffman did not release details on where the two suspects were found. A manhunt in the area of the slaying Thursday morning led to the lockdown of nearby Reily Brown Elementary and other schools in the area, which was lifted when police announced they were certain the suspects were no longer in the area.
