WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/12/2015) A man was fatally shot in Wilmington this evening, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m. in the 200 block of W. 23rd St.
The victim was a man about 25 years old and he was shot multiple times, said Sgt. Michael McColley of New Castle County paramedics. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier reports from the scene indicated the man had been shot in the head.
Wilmington police released s statement saying, “The investigation is in the preliminary stages and there is no suspect information available at this time. Anyone with information in reference this investigation is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division Homicide Unit at 302-576-3620.”
This was the third reported shooting and the first homicide of 2015 in Wilmington, which had a record 28 homicides last year.
