BEAR, DELAWARE (1/12/2015) Two young men are dead after gunshots rang out at a Bear apartment complex tonight.
It happened about 7:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Vinings Way at the Vinings at Christiana complex off Old Baltimore Pike. An hour earlier, a young man was shot to death in Wilmington in the city’s first homicide of the year, but there was no indication from police the shootings are related.
The Bear shooting brings to three the number of homicides in suburban New Castle County this year.
Both victims in Bear were in cardiac arrest with gunshot wounds when New Castle County paramedics arrived, said spokesman Sgt. Michael McColley.
The one victim was given CPR and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, he said. Police later announced the man had died at the hospital.
The other victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
New Castle County police are on the scene investigating.
