DOVER, DELAWARE (12/20/2014) A 43-year-old man arrested Friday is responsible for six recent Dover robberies, city police announced this morning.
Morris Simms, of South Farmview Drive in Dover, was charged with six robbery counts and related charges and is being held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of $656,000 cash bond.
The latest robbery happened about 2 p.m. Friday at EZ Check Cashing, 1005 College Road.
Police say Simmes entered the business, wearing a disguise over his face, forced his way past employees and removed cash from the registers before fleeing.
Dover officers searched the area and located Simms in a nearby woods, police said. He fled into a nearby parking lot but was taken into custody.
Police linked Simms to these earlier robberies:
- Dec. 3: Valero/Shore Stop, 530 North DuPont Highway
- Dec. 6: Stop N Shop, 1102 White Oak Road
- Dec. 8: Stop N Shop, 780 Walker Road
- Dec. 16: Valero/Shore Stop, 1358 Forrest Avenue
- Dec. 17: Days Inn Hotel, 272 North DuPont Highway
Simms was charged with the following crimes:
1st Degree Robbery (6x)
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (7x)
Possession of Deadly Weapon During Commission of a Felony (6x)
Strangulation
Assault 2nd Degree
Resisting Arrest
Attempted Theft by False Pretense
Local Fugitive
2nd Degree Robbery
Theft Greater than $1,500.00 (Delaware State Police Charge in a Separate Case)
