UPDATED STORY: Charges dismissed in shooting of 6-year-old boy

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (6/9/2017) City police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 6-year-old boy.

The victim, Jashown Banner, remains in critical condition at Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland.

He was shot in a vehicle at the corner of Sixty and Spruce streets on Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor Mike Purzycki and Police Chief Robert Tracy today announced the arrest of 41-year-old Chelsea Outlaw of Morehouse Drive near New Castle. They said he has an extensive arrest record.

Outlaw was apprehended Thursday afternoon in New Castle by federal and local officers.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of reckless endangerment,  one count of second-degree assault, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and five counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He is being held at Young Correctional Center in lieu of $2 million cash bond pending a preliminary hearing June 19.
