UPDATED STORY: Man critically wounded in Woodcrest was innocent bystander
NEWPORT, DELAWARE (10/23/2016) A 19-year-old man was wounded early today in a shooting in the Woodcrest neighborhood east of Newport, the New Castle County police said.
The incident was reported about 1 a.m. in the 500 block of Jackson Ave.
Initial reports were for a fight, but before police arrived the gunfire rang out.
The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, Officer First Class John-Paul Piser said.
He said detectives are still investigating and more information will be released later.
