Man wounded in Cool Spring drive-by shooting

HARBESON, DELAWARE (10/21/2016) A 33-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Cool Spring area east of Harbeson, the Delaware State Police reported this morning.

The shooting happened about 9:50 p.m. on West Springside Drive in the Cool Spring Farms Mobile Home Park.

Police said three people were walking west on the drive when a dark Chrysler 200 that was eastbound approached the pedestrians. A front-seat passenger began to fire a handgun into the air through the front passenger window and one round struck the 33-year-old man in a lower extremity.

The vehicle then fled.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes. Police described the injury as not life-threatening.

Police said the driver and passenger were both black males. The driver may have been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a large chinstrap-style beard.
