WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (11/13/2015) The suspect in two northern Delaware bank robberies has been arrested, Wilmington police said this morning.

William R. Winchester, 46, of Wilmington, was arrested Thursday by officers from another jurisdiction, city police said.

Delaware State Police later reported he was taken into custody by detectives on Thursday at Third and DuPont streets in Wilmington.

Winchester was wanted by city police in connection with the Nov. 3 robbery of the M&T Bank branch at 1207 N. Union St. He was awaiting arraignment on a first-degree robbery charge. The same bank was robbed again this week.

He also was sought by Delaware State Police in the robbery of a WSFS bank inside the Safeway store at 2522 Foulk Road in Brandywine Hundred on Monday.

State police charged him with first-degree robbery in that crime and he was being held at Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
