NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (11/13/2015) The driver of a tractor-trailer was injured this morning when his rig overturned on northbound U.S. 13 (South DuPont Highway) near New Castle, authorities said.

According to reports from the scene, the crash happened when the trailer’s load of granite shifted.

The crash happened just after 8:30 a.m. atĀ Lisa Drive, south of the Hares Corner intersection.

When emergency medical unitsĀ arrived, the 45-year-old man had already been assisted out of the vehicle by New Castle County police, said Cpl. Abigail Haas of county paramedics.

He was treated on the scene for a lower extremity injury and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, Haas said.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.

Wilmington Manor and Good Will fire companies responded.
