Woman robbed outside Super Fresh in Claymont

CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (9/3/2015) A 69-year-old woman was robbed in the parking lot of the Super Fresh supermarket in Claymont, the Delaware State Police said Wednesday.

The robbery at 2105 Philadelphia Pike happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday as the woman was loading groceries into her car.

A male in a pickup truck got out and grabbed the woman’s purse that was still in her shopping cart.

She was still holding onto it and struggled with the robber, police said, but he wrestled it from her.

The woman chased him to the truck and grabbed her purse again but he was able to escape with it in the truck.

She was not injured.

The robber was described as black, 5-feet-8 to 6-feet-2, about 180-200 pounds and he was wering a red button-down shirt, light tan khaki pants, black shoes and a tan baseball cap.
