Death of Claymont woman in cornfield ruled suicide

County police carBRANDYWINE HUNDRED, DELAWARE (7/27/2015) The death of a 28-year-old Claymont woman whose body was found in a cornfield Sunday afternoon has been ruled a suicide, authorities said today.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Ramsey Road about 3 p.m. and found a 27-year-old man attempting CPR on the woman, Officer First Class Tracey Duffy said.

Duffy said the Division of Forensic Science determined the woman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Duffy asked anyone with information on the incident to call police at 302-573-2800.
