NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (7/8/2015) A BP gas station clerk was assaulted with a large blunt object when a man robbed the business on U.S. 13 near New Castle, Delaware State Police reported this morning.

The robbery happened about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at 601 N. DuPont Highway (U.S. 13), in the Wilmington Manor area.

After assaulting the 58-year-old male clerk, who was behind the counter, the robber opened the cash register, removed money and fled.

The clerk was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital with injuries police said were not life-threatening.

The robber was described as black, 25-30 years old, about 5-feet-11 and 160-190 pounds. He was wearing tan pants, a tan shirt and a white tank top underneath it.
