Suspect in Dover shooting arrested in Maryland

DOVER, DELAWARE (6/4/2015) A 25-year-old man wanted in a shooting last month in the Capitol Green neighborhood was arrested this morning in Elkton, Maryland, according to Dover police.

Rakim Strickland, of 634 River Road in Dover, was taken into custody without incident about 6 a.m. at the Hollingsworth Apartment Complex.

He is awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition during commission of a felony and by a person prohibited, criminal mischief and criminal trespass  in the shooting of an 18-year-old man on May 15.

The shooting happened about 1:50 p.m. in an alley between Sussex Avenue and East Water Street.

The arrest today was made by the Delaware Fugitive Task Force and Maryland State Apprehension Team.

Dover police are still investigating the shooting and asked anyone with information to call 302-736-7111.
