58-year-old man dies after motorcycle crash

DSP logoGREENWOOD, DELAWARE (5/18/2015) A Greenwood man has died from injuries in a motorcycle crash earlier this month west of the town, Delaware State Police reported today.

The accident happened about 8:50 p.m. on May 8 as Edward B. Plummer, 58, was driving a 2001 Yamaha XVS 1100 northbound on Blanchard Road.

Plummer failed to negotiate a curve and went off the west side of the roadway continuing into Shirleys Road. There, the motorcycle rotated onto its left side and slid across the roadway until it struck a drainage ditch on the north side of Shirleys Road.

Upon hitting the ditch, Plummer was ejected from the bike.

He was taken by state police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead at 12:33 p.m. on May 9.

Police are still investigating the accident.

Plummer was wearing a helmet.
