90-year-old home burns in Christiana

CHRISTIANA, DELAWARE (5/12/2015) Fire heavily damaged a 90-year-old home in Christiana this morning, according to reports from the scene.

The blaze in the two-story home was reported at 4:42 a.m. at 7 N. Old Baltimore Pike, about 400 feet from the Christiana Fire Company.

A second alarm brought in additional fire companies.

Firefighters had the blaze under control shortly after 6 a.m.

Main Street and Old Baltimore Pike remained closed to traffic.

The occupants were able to safely escape.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.

The wood-framed home was built in 1925, according to New Castle County records.
