PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE (3/10/2014) A suspect in a shooting last month at the Mermaid Run condominium complex was later found dead in Pennsylvania, New Castle County police reported Tuesday, and the weapon found with his body was linked to the Pike Creek shooting.

The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Feb. 1 in the 5000 block of E. Brigantine Court, off Skyline Drive and Limestone Road (Route 7).

A 39-year-old man was shot in the upper torso and reported in stable condition the next day at Christiana Hospital.

After the incident, the shooter fled to his home in Coatesville, where Pennsylvania authorities found his body when they went to question him, said Officer First Class Tom Jackson, a county police spokesman.

Jackson said the suspect “was familiar with the victim through an acquaintance.”
