Wilmington police make arrest in attempted armed robbery

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/24/2014) A 23-year-old Wilmington man was arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery last week, city police said Tuesday.

Police said they also seized a .22 caliber handgun, ammunition and 65 bags of heroin with a street value of $650 when they arrested Javon Lemons about 6 a.m. Monday at a home in the 200 block of N. Clayton St.

The attempted robbery happened Dec. 16 in the 100 block of N. Clayton St. A man with a handgun demanded property from a male victim but fled empty handed.

Police said Detective Joseph Bucksner developed Lemons as a suspect.

He was charged with attempted robbery, possession with intent to deliver heroin and weapons counts. Bail was pending.
