DOVER, DELAWARE (5/18/2015) Dover police today brought back the department’s street crimes unit in the wake of four recent homicides and Friday’s shooting in the Capitol Green neighborhood.

The unit had been used last year after a rash of shootings and police said several arrests were the result of its aggressive, zero-tolerance approach to all crimes.

A total of four city police officers and one probation and parole officer are assigned to the unit, Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

He said they are being borrowed from the drugs, vice and organized crime unit as well as from the community policing unit.

Hoffman said Rakim Strickland , the suspect in Friday’s shooting in the Capital Green neighborhood, remains at large.

The man shot remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition, Hoffman said.
