NEWARK, DELAWARE (10/31/2015) Three people arrested by University of Delaware police in connection with thefts from vehicles were later charged by Delaware State Police in a string of armed robberies in the Newark and New Castle areas.
The three were arrested Thursday after witnesses reported they were going through cars at a campus parking lot, state police said. UD police stopped their vehicle nearby and found property taken from the vehicles in the parking lot, state police said.
As campus police investigated, they determined three of five people in the car were suspects in these robberies or attempts under investigation by state and New Castle County police:
• 7-Eleven, 699 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Brookside, on Oct. 11, at 2:02 a.m.
• 7-Eleven, 100 Four Seasons Parkway, Glasgow, on Oct. 11, at 4:56 a.m. (attempt)
• 7-Eleven, 60 S. Gerald Drive, Newark, on Oct. 12 at 12:55 a.m. (New Castle County police investigation)
• Wawa, 274 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Brookside, on Oct. 18 at 3:25 a.m.
• 7-Eleven, 60 S. Gerald Drive, Ogletown , on Oct. 27 at 2:02 a.m. (New Castle County police investigation)
• 7-Eleven, 699 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Brookside, on Oct. 27 at 2:16 a.m.
• Valero, 891 S. DuPont Highway, near New Castle, on Oct. 29 at 1:17 a.m.
Alexa Tucker, 19, of Newark was charged by state police with seven counts of first-degree robbery, six counts of second-degree conspiracy, and first-degree attempted robbery. She was being held at Baylor Correctional Institution in lieu of $77,500 secured bail.
Derrick Jacobs Jr., 19, of Newark, was charged by state police with six counts of first-degree robbery, five counts of wearing a disguise during commission of a felony, five counts of second-degree conspiracy and first-degree attempted robbery. He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of $92,500 secured bail.
Tevin C. Luff, 21, of Wilmington, was charged by troopers with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of wearing a disguise during commission of a felony and two counts of second-degree conspiracy. He was being held at Young in lieu of $29,000 cash bail.
