Man shot in leg in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/11/2018) A 67-year-old man was shot in the leg  on Wednesday, Wilmington police reported.

The shooting happened about 3:46 p.m. at East 27th and North Claymont streets.

Officers arrived to find the victim with a single gunshot wound to his left calf.

He was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. Police said he was treated there and released.

The victim told police he heard someone holler for him to “give it up,” then heard the gunshot.

This is believed to be the first shooting of the year in Wilmington.

Police said they are seeking video and witnesses.
