KIRKWOOD, DELAWARE (1/10/2018) A 30-year-old Bear woman was killed in a single-car crash early Wednesday near Lums Pond State Park, the Delaware State Police said.

The crash happened about 4:05 a.m. in the 3000 block of Red Lion Road (Route 71) at Summit Pointe Circle, the entrance to Summit North Marina.

Police identified the woman killed as Phoenicia M. Pugh.

She was westbound driving a 2010 Mini Cooper when she failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the eastbound lane and struck multiple signs and a tree.

Pugh was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was wearing a seat belt, police said, and speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.
