NEWARK, DELAWARE (1/6/2018) A 24-year-old was killed early today when a car went off Interstate 95 east of Newark and crashed into two trees, the Delaware State Police said.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at 2:09 a.m. on a curve south of Salem Church Road.

Police said the roadway on the highway was dry and free of any snow from the recent storm.

The car being driven by Jalen G. Worthen, a 2000 Nissan Maxima, was split in half when it hit the second tree, police said.

Worthen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash.

The right lane of I-95 was closed about three hours.
