BROOKSIDE, DELAWARE (11/8/2017) A 77-year-old Newark man died Tuesday when his car collided with another vehicle on East Chestnut Hill Road (Route 4), the Delaware State Police said.
The crash was reported at 2:23 p.m. at Todd Lane.
The man killed, whose name has not been released, was driving a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette and pulled out from Todd Lane into the path of an eastbound 2014 Kia Sorento SUV.
The Kia, driven by a 38-year-old Newark man, struck the driver’s side door of the Corvette, causing it to spin around and come to a stop in the westbound left turn lane of East Chestnut Hill Road. The Kia came to a stop on the shoulder.
Police said the driver of the Corvette, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Kia, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the hospital with injuries police said were not life-threatening.
East Chestnut Hill Road was closed about two hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
