UPDATED STORY:  Boyfriend faces charges in Newark homicide after suicide attempt, police say

NEWARK, DELAWARE (9/23/2017) A woman found dead inside a Newark home suffered significant injuries and her death is being investigated as a homicide, Newark police said this morning.

The woman’s body was found in the home on Westfield Drive about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda said.

He said officers entered a home after a request to check on her welfare. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s name is being withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.

Her body was turned over to the Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

“This incident is being investigated as isolated with no threat of safety to the community or involvement of university students,” Bryda said.
