UPDATED STORY: Newark police arrest suspect in Applebee’s shooting

NEWARK, DELAWARE (7/29/2017) An Applebee’s Restaurant employee was wounded by gunfire during a robbery early today, Newark police said.

The shooting was reported at 2:17 a.m. in the Suburban Plaza Shopping Center off Elkton Road.

The victim was walking to his vehicle when two males with a handgun confronted him.

The employee was shot in an extremity and the two robbers fled on foot, Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda said.

He said the victim was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in stable condition.
