UPDATED STORY: Suspect arrested in shopping center shooting
NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (7/5/2017) A young man was shot in the head early today near New Castle, according to reports from the scene.
The shooting happened during an argument about 1 a.m. in a vehicle at the Star Center, a small shopping center at 3125 New Castle Ave. (Route 9).
The victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
Delaware State Police and New Castle County police were on the scene.
Initial reports were the victim was in critical condition, but state police later described his injuries as serious. Police said he had been seated in the front passenger side of the vehicle.
State police are investigating the shooting and asked anyone with information to call Detective Kyle Archer at 302-752-3791.
