2 rescued from cars stranded in high water

(Photo: Delaware Free News)NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (1/24/2017) Two women were rescued by firefighters this morning after their cars became stranded in high water on Airport Road west of New Castle.

According to reports from the scene, both vehicles were driven past DelDOT signs and barricades warning of the high water from Nonesuch Creek when they became stranded about 9 a.m.

Firefighters from Minquas of Newport and Christiana responded to the location just south of the Sheraton Hotel and Interstate 95 to escort the women to safety through the flooded road.
