BEAR, DELAWARE (11/6/2016) A woman was wounded by gunfire while she was sleeping in a home in the Sparrow Run community early today, New Castle County police said.
The shooting happened about 1:35 a.m. in the 100 block of Flamingo Drive.
The 38-year-old victim was given first aid and taken by ambulance to a hospital, Officer First Class John-Paul Piser said.
He said officers found other homes and vehicles that had been struck by gunfire, but there were no other injuries.
Piser said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to call police at 302-573-2800.
