Suspect arrested in Royal Farms robbery

SMYRNA, DELAWARE (10/10/2016) A Hartly man sought by Delaware State Police on robbery charges surrendered to Smyrna police Sunday evening on an unrelated motor vehicle theft charge, authorities said.

Kenneth N. Wasser III was later arrested by state police and charged in connection with the armed robbery of the Royal Farms store at 6538 Halltown Road in Pearsons Corner.

The robbery was reported at 12:16 a.m. Sunday. Police said Wasser was armed with a knife when he confronted a female clerk and demanded cash. She complied and he fled in a vehicle driven by another person.

Wasser was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during commission of a felony and second-degree conspiracy.

Wasser was being held at Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 secured bail.
