2 arrested in Royal Farms robbery

BLADES, DELAWARE (8/12/2016) Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Royal Farms gas station inĀ Blades, the Delaware State Police reported Thursday.

The crime happened at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday at U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway) and Route 20 (East High Street).

Police said they received tips from the public shortly after releasing surveillance images of a man involved in the incident.

Based on the tips, troopers stopped a 2009 Hyundai Sonata in the Seaford area about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver and owner of the car, Ashley N. Stephens, 27, of Georgetown, was the getaway driver in the robbery, police said, and hadĀ her 2-year-old daughter in the car at the time of the robbery and when she was stopped by troopers.

Also in the car was David A. Morris Jr., 33, of Seaford, and police charged him with first-degree robbery, wearing a disguise during commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $55,000 secured bond.

Stephens was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.

She was being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution near New Castle in lieu of $22,000 secured bond.

The 2-year-old was turned over to a relative.
