DOVER, DELAWAE (8/11/2016) A 20-year-old suspect in drug dealing escaped by fleeing on foot through the Dover Mall on Wednesday night as Delaware State Police troopers were closing in to arrest him, authorities said.

The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. at 1365 N. DuPont Highway (U.S. 13).

Troopers had observed Traymere E. Stevens of Magnolia delivering a large amount of heroin during a drug transaction in the parking lot of the mall near the Macy’s department store, police said.

He ran into the Macy’s store and through the mall toward JCPenney, where troopers lost sight of him.

Additional troopers as well as Dover city police and K-9 units searched businesses in the mall until 10 p.m. but were unable to locate Stevens, state police said. No one in the mall was reported injured.

Police said they seized a large amount of heroin and Stevens is wanted for Tier 5 drug dealing, resisting arrest and related counts.

Stevens was described as 5-feet-7, weighing 140 pounds and with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and shorts.

Anyone with information on Stevens is asked to call police at 302-697-4454.
