Suspect identified in bar murder on Gov. Printz Boulevard

UPDATED STORY: Suspect surrenders

EDGEMOOR, DELAWARE (4/1/2016) One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting early today at the Shades of Blue Bar and Grill just east of Wilmington, and Delaware State Police tonight named a murder suspect.

The shooting at 3806 Gov. Printz Blvd. was reported at 12:39 a.m. A large crowd drew officers from numerous police agencies to disperse it.

Police said Tyerin A. Griffin, 35, of Wilmington, is wanted on a first-degree murder warrant. He also faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Griffin has ties to Wilmington and Philadelphia, police said. He was described as 5-feet-11 and 200 pounds, with a long beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a dark square picture on it.

One victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by state police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was planned. His name is being withheld by police pending notification of next-of-kin.

The second victim, also male, was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital, where he is being treated for injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.
