1 in custody after daughter finds dad’s body, chase

UPDATED STORY: Grandson charged in Stanton murder

STANTON, DELAWARE (3/18/2016) One person was taken into custody this morning after a 69-year-old man was found dead in Stanton by his daughter and his missing vehicle was chased into Pennsylvania.

New Castle County police said they began investigating in the first block of Indiana Road in the Park Place Mobile Home Park about 8:30 a.m. after the daughter called 911.

Police soon discovered that the dead man’s car, a grey Oldsmobile Alero, was missing.

An hour later county police spotted the vehicle in the area of Polly Drummond Hill Road and the chase began into Pennsylvania, with Delaware and Pennsylvania state police joining in the pursuit, according to reports from the scene.

The driver was captured after pulling into Blue Hen Court, off Chambers Rock Road south of Landenberg.

He was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police.

Cpl. Tracey Duffy of New Castle County police said this afternoon detectives were still on the scene in Stanton investigating the death.
