UPDATED STORY: Arrest warrant issued for suspect in Prides Court murder

OGLETOWN, DELAWARE (2/28/2016) A 31-year-old man shot to death Saturday night in the Prides Court apartment complex has been identified and New Castle County police said tonight they don’t think the crime was a random act.

The shooting was reported at 7:41 p.m. in the first block of Chatham Lane.

The victim, Clifton Thompson of Newark, was shot multiple times, in the torso and lower body, Cpl. Tom Jackson said.

“Detectives are also aware of a carjacking that occurred in the vicinity of the complex near the time of the shooting but at this time do not suspect that to be involved in this incident,” Jackson said.

Thompson was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, Jackson said.

Jackson asked anyone with information or video surveillance to call police at 302-573-2800 or visit www.nccpd.com.
