4 injured in Rockland crash

ROCKLAND, DELAWARE (2/13/2016) Four people were injured in a crash in Rockland on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident happened about 3:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Powder Mill Road.

It took Talleyville firefighters 15 minutes to extricate a 46-year-old man from one vehicle.

He was treated at the scene for back pain as well as possible head and upper extremity injuries, then flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Haas said the man was in serious but stable condition.

A 26-year-old woman who was driving one of the vehicles was treated for upper extremity and possible internal injuries before being taken to Christiana by ambulance in stable condition.

A child in the same vehicle was taken by ambulance to nearby Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children.

Another injured person was taken by ambulance to Wilmington Hospital.

The crash is under investigation by Delaware State Police.

Brandywine Hundred and Claymont fire companies also responded.
