1 dead, 1 wounded in Belvedere shooting

NEWPORT, DELAWARE (2/13/2016) One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shooting in the Belvedere community west of Newport late Friday night, New Castle County police said this morning.

The shooting happened about 10:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Clyde St.

The man killed was identified as 18-year-old Stanley Evans of Wilmington.

Both victims were treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, where Evans died.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that an incident occurred somewhere in the community of Belvedere and the parties involved fled that scene to the Clyde Street location. This investigation is still it its early stages and more information will be released as it becomes available,” said Cpl. Tom Jackson.
