BEAR, DELAWARE (12/25/2015) A 45-year-old woman was injured when she was robbed outside a Wawa convenience store on U.S. 40 in Bear late Thursday night, Delaware State Police said.

The victim had just walked out of the store at 1605 Pulaski highway, at the Salem Church Road intersection, about 10:15 p.m. when a man tried to grab her purse.

The two struggled over the purse but the man was able to flee with it but he was chased by another man who witnessed the incident, police said.

The witness backed off, however, when the robber pulled what appeared to be a gun out of his waistband. The robber then fled south across U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway).

The woman was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, treated for injuries and released, police said.

The robber was described as white, 20-30 years old, 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-10 and about 160-180 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police asked anyone with information to call 302-365-8566.
