4 hurt in U.S. 13 crash at Boyds Corner

BOYDS CORNER, DELAWARE (12/15/2015) Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision at U.S. 13 and Pole Bridge Road on Monday afternoon, authorities said. One of the injured was in critical condition.

The accident happened about 3:45 p.m.

A woman believed to be in her 30s was trapped in her vehicle but freed by Odessa firefighters in less than 15 minutes, said Senior Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

She was treated for upper and lower extremity injuries, possible head and internal injuries before being flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition, Haas said.

A 49-year-old man was treated by paramedics for a head injury as well as neck and back pain. He was taken to the hospital by Port Penn ambulance in serious but stable condition.

Two other men, one believed to be in his 40s and the other in his 50s, were taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition, Haas said.

Volunteer Hose Company and Delaware City Fire Company also responded.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
