NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (10/19/2015) A pedestrian was struck by a car on U.S. 40 this evening, Delaware State Police said.

The accident happened about 8:45 p.m. at Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40) and Wilton Boulevard.

The male victim was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital. Details on  his injuries were not immediately available.

Police said the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene.

Westbound Pulaski Highway was closed at the intersection while police investigated.
