2 arrested after Dover meth labs dismantled

DOVER, DELAWARE (9/28/2015) Two men were arrested after hazardous materials teams dismantled two methamphetamine labs near Dover Air Force Base, city police reported today.

The homes at 1137 Janes Road and 11 Janes Circle were being used to produce and distribute methamphetamines, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Dover police searched the homes about 9:45 a.m. Friday with assistance from Delaware State Police, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control hazmat team, Department of Probation and Parole officers, and the Little Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Charles Hitchens, 51, of 11 Janes Circle, was charged with operation of a clandestine lab, possession with intent to deliver/manufacture methamphetamine, maintaining a drug property, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of $14,250 secured bond.

Herbie Snyder, 56, of 1137 Janes Road, was charged with operation of a clandestine lab, possession with intent to deliver/manufacture methamphetamine, maintaining a drug property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held at Vaughn in lieu of $18,250 secured bond.
