NEWARK, DELAWARE (9/24/2015) Four teenagers have been charged in a robbery where the victim was hit in the head with a handgun and kicked before his wallet was taken, Newark police reported Wednesday.
The robbery happened about 11:30 p.m. Friday on the west side of Marrows Road.
The male victim was on his way home from work when the four teens walked passed him, got him to turn around and hit him with the handgun, Cpl. James Spadola said, and he fell to the ground.
The four then kicked him and demanded his wallet, Spadola said.
The victim gave it to them and then jumped over a guardrail, and the attackers fled with the wallet and the victim’s bicycle.
University of Delaware police took the four into custody a few minutes later at a DART bus stop on Library Avenue.
- Zaire Palmer, 15, of Newark, was charged with robbery, conspiracy and assault.
- Taheem Nicholas, 15, of Newark, was charged with robbery and conspiracy.
- Byron Stafford, 14, of Newark, was charged with robbery and conspiracy.
- Amir Fennell, of Wilmington, was charged with robbery and conspiracy.
Palmer, Stafford and Fennell were being held at the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $62,000 secured bail.
Nicholas was taken to People”s Place in Townsend on $62,000 secured bail.
