NEWARK, DELAWARE (9/2/2015) A tractor-trailer struck an overpass on North Chapel Street this morning and is causing detours in the area, Newark police said.
The accident happened south of East Cleveland Avenue, at the CSX railroad overpass. The trailer collapsed in the middle after the collision.
The trailer was carrying a load of wooden pallets and they were being removed so the trailer could be dismantled and removed.
CSX officials were on the scene inspecting the overpass for damage, although at least one train went over it since the accident
Police urge motorists to take alternate routes as traffic cannot get through the overpass.
