UPDATED STORY: Man dies at hospital after crash, plunge on I-495

EDGEMOOR, DELAWARE (8/23/2015) A driver crashed into a Jersey barrier separating Interstate 495 from an exit ramp, then ran several hundred feet down the highway and jumped over another barrier – falling about 75 feet to the pavement of another ramp below, according to reports from the scene.

The accident happened about 6 p.m. today in the southbound lanes at the Edgemoor Road off-ramp and overpass.

The male victim landed on the northbound on-ramp from Gov. Printz Boulevard.

He was unresponsive at the scene and taken to Christiana Hospital.
