28-year-old woman dies in U.S. 13 crash

SEAFORD, DELAWARE (8/12/2015) A 28-year-old woman was killed this afternoon when her car ran under the rear of a tractor-trailer that was slowing for a turn ahead of her on southbound U.S. 13 north of Seaford, Delaware State Police say.

The victim was identified as Holly R. Boyce of Greenwood.

The accident happened about 12:20 p.m. south of Cannon Road (Route 18), near the Tractor Supply store.

Boyce was driving a 2007 Buick Lucerne.

The driver of the 2010 Freightliner Cascadia, pulling an enclosed trailer, was identified as Tia M. Gaines, 56, of Felton. Police said she wasn’t injured.

Police said Gaines had slowed and activated her right turn signal to pull into a business when Boyce failed to notice and went into the rear of the trailer. The Buick went under the trailer and struck the rear axle.

The crash is still under investigation but police said no charges will be filed.

Southbound U.S. 13 was closed at Route 18 until about 4 p.m. as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
