Collins Park homicide victim identified

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (7/29/2015) New Castle County police have released the name of a 29-year-old man shot to death early today in a garage in the Collins Park community near New Castle.

The victim was Isaias Gonzalez of the 300 block of Martin Drive, where the shooting took place just after midnight.

Gonzalez was shot in an upper extremity, taken to Christiana Hospital and later pronounced dead, said county Officer First Class Tom Jackson.

A second victim. also an adult, was wounded in a lower extremity and treated at Christiana for his injuries, which are not life-threatening, Jackson said.

New Castle County paramedics treated the victims at the scene and they were taken to the hospital by Good Will and Holloway Terrace fire company ambulances.

County police remained on the scene investigating.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that several black males forcefully entered an unattached garage near the residence. The suspects fled the area in an unknown direction,” Jackson said.

New Castle City and Delaware State Police also responded to the scene.
