UPDATED STORY: Suspect arrested in gas station shooting
PRICES CORNER, DELAWARE (7/26/2015) Delaware State Police today released more information in connection with the shooting of a gas station clerk in Prices Corner and released a surveillance image of the suspect.
The robbery happened about 4:50 p.m. Friday at the Shell station at 2501 Newport Gap Pike (Route 41).
The clerk turned around after retrieving some merchandise from behind the counter and was confronted by the gunman who demanded cash from the register, then fired a round, striking the clerk in the stomach.
The gunman removed cash from the register and fled in a dark SUV, which police said was possibly a newer model Nissan Pathfinder with a missing grill. The vehicle headed south on Newport Gap Pike.
The victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was admitted with injuries police described as not life-threatening.
The robber was described as a black man about 35-45 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing 160-170 pounds, with a thin build and dark goatee.
