Wilmington police arrest 3, seize guns

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (7/23/2015) Three people were arrested by Wilmington police and several guns seized after a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Adams St., Wilmington police reported this morning.

A silver Pontiac was stopped about 11 p.m. Tuesday when officers identified the driver, Dwan Bolden, 25, of Wilmington, who they knew to have a suspended license and failed to signal a turn, police said. In addition to traffic citations, he was charged with probation violation.

A front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old boy who is an active probationer with a 7 p.m. curfew, was found to have a Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun, police said, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a stolen firearm and violation of probation. Police said the gun had been stolen in Florida.

A rear-seat passenger, another 17-year-old boy, was found with two handguns in his pockets, a Sis Sauer .22 caliber and a Colt .380 Mustang Pocket Lite with an obliterated serial number. The Colt was loaded with five rounds, police said, and the boy had a loose round in one of his pockets. He also was found to be an active probationer with 7 p.m. curfew.

He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon with obliterated serial number and violation of probation.

The teens were committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $140,000 cash bail for the one with two weapons and $86,000 cash bail for the other. Bolden was committed to Young Correctional Institution for the probation violation.

Wilmington man charged with attempted murder
